quick-peel a potato, egg or banana
Last week, I stumbled upon some hilarious YouTube videos full of kitchen shortcuts and planned to feature one of them every day this week. Shortly thereafter, I realized that these were part of an elaborate advertising campaign for wireless company that hopes to save you time (get it?). But they’re still funny, so I have caved. Thus, here are short clips on how to peel a banana, an egg or a potato faster. Do let us know if you try them!

Oh yeah, I’ve the egg one before, but not the potato or the banana; very clever!
Sorry, that was supposed to “I’ve seen the egg one before”
Those videos are so funny! I’ve tried the potato one…it works for the most part.
Those are great! I’m still giggling! I’ll definitely be trying the egg one soon
That egg thing is amazing! I just made a whole container of hard boiled eggs and the last one I ate was so darn annoying to peel, this saved me hours of my life just in this latest batch of eggs! Thanks.

The potato one, it doesn’t show whether you boil the potato for 15 minutes or so to cook completely, or dunk for 30 seconds like you’re putting up tomatoes. I would guess the second one, has anybody actually tried this neat trick yet? This would make making potato salad MUCH easier!
I just tried the egg one, fabulously quick! One hint for you that I learned from experience…take a deep breath before you blow out. I accidentally breathed in to blow a second time, with the egg still close to my mouth, and sucked in an egg shell shard. Many viewers of the video complained about germs “Ooh, I wouldn’t want the germs all over the eggs.” Well, certainly you would dunk them in water after the peeling procedure, and certainly you wouldn’t try this when you are sick. It would be quite similar to someone who was sick preparing your food anyway. Germs happen. It’s just nice to try to reduce the numbers a little…
